ABOUT THE CENTER...

Rising Sun Center for Loss and Renewal is the professional private practice of Sharon Rugg, LCSW, founded in 1997 and licensed in the State of Georgia.  This private practice offers counseling services, bereavement group facilitation, in-service seminars, personal grief counseling, books and games for retail sale, and other professional services related to the life-changing challenges of loss and renewal.  Experienced in grief work with all ages, this practice specializes in helping children through their journeys of loss and renewal.

LOSS AND RENEWAL...

Loss is a natural part of life and as much as  we would like to shield children from the pain and heartbreak of loss, we can't.  Pets die.  Parents divorce. Cancer takes the life of a grandparent.  Grief is our natural response to loss of any kind.  Rather than trying to protect children from the pain and turmoil which loss sometimes brings, we need to help them express their grief and learn from the experiences they encounter when a loss occurs in their lives.  Grieving is a journey that leads to renewal.
